Hang on to your hats (and broomsticks) as Alnwick Castle launches its 2019 wedding and events season with some special new celebration ideas, an enlarged events team, new brochure and a 360 video.

There are also three special Saturdays this summer at Alnwick Castle when weddings are substantially reduced! Call the Castle events team on 01665 511086 to find out when.

You can see a virtual reality video of the Guest Hall on the Alnwick Castle website by visiting https://www.alnwickcastle.com/weddings/the-guest-hall

“We're opening up new areas of the Castle grounds for weddings and festivities," says Alnwick Castle's chief wedding wizard, Fiona Wealleans. "Whatever your style, there are so many different bespoke options to choose from. You can enjoy wedding fun in the medieval-style Artisans Courtyard; drinks and canapes on the gun terrace; an exquisite rural occasion in the woodland grounds of Hulne Abbey; splendid ceremonies in the Castle Guest Hall; or spellbinding Harry Potter themed weddings with broomstick-training thrown in for guests. Or you can simply mix and match your favourite options and we'll sprinkle the magic over a truly wonderful day that you and your guests will never forget!”

New for 2019, secret, marriage proposal occasions are also now offered at Alnwick Castle! All scenarios are considered. For instance, if you'd like an owl to swoop down from the skies with a ring, a live trumpet fanfare, or even a white charger to carry you both away, it can be arranged – with champagne on hand if all goes to plan, too!

Alnwick Castle's new Head Chef, Craig Harvey, is passionate about excellent food for great occasions. He trained at The Ritz and at Claridge's in London and in Paris, with countless, internationally renowned chefs and has also cooked for the Queen, so whatever type of menu you choose, you and your guests can expect a royal feast here.

The Castle itself presents a suitably splendid backdrop to a momentous occasion. The Guest Hall, with its carved stone archways and beamed roof, offers magnificent surroundings for a wedding and can accommodate up to 200 guests for ceremonies and 160 for wedding breakfasts.

Hulne Abbey - available from March to September - is an enchanting ruined abbey and lies on a hillside in Hulne Park, close to Alnwick. Surrounded by medieval walls and founded in the 13th century as a Carmelite monastery, Hulne Abbey is a beautifully secluded spot for your wedding and very atmospheric. There's ample space for a marquee or rustic tipi for up to 500 here.

To find out more, you can go to the website, download the brochure and watch the new video at www.alnwickcastle.com/weddings.

The Castle reopens to day visitors with an exciting family programme for 2019 on Friday 29th March.
