Discover this hidden gem in the heart of Teesdale

The picture perfect backdrop to any wedding

Located in the heart of Teesdale, The Bowes Museum is a hidden gem with a selection of beautiful, elegant and opulent rooms. The French chateau-style building was built from local stone and opened to the public in 1892. Fast forward to now, the property hosts all sorts of weddings from traditional to quirky, formal and informal days.

The museum’s wedding coordinators help couples throughout the planning experience from their fi rst inquiry, right through to waving them off at the end of the night. To ensure pairs receive total attention, the team only holds one wedding per day to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Guests will fall in love with the venue as soon as they enter the stone entrance hall and see the sweeping staircase that leads to the spectacular picture galleries and ceremony spaces. The Music Room can hold a maximum capacity of 64 guests for the “I dos” and showcases a collection of musical instruments and paintings. Alternatively, the Jubilee Room can fi t 100 people and provides panoramic views of the surrounding area.

For larger celebrations, the magnifi cent 19th-century Picture Gallery can accommodate 200 partygoers with an unrivalled collection of paintings from around the world. Continue the celebrations in either the Entrance Hall or Café Bowes with a maximum of 120 guests.

We Love…
When couples pick the Grade I listed venue for their wedding day, they’ll receive complimentary admission to the museum from the date of the booking the special day to their first wedding anniversary.
