Glorious gardens

The Bowes Museum’s grounds offer plenty of stunning photo opportunities, set in acres of beautiful parkland, stepping out of the Museum’s south facing entrance, a terrace leads to a formal parterre garden below. There are trees from around the world in the surrounding woodland, as well as picnic and play areas within the grounds.

Historic venues

The Bowes Museum has a selection of beautiful, elegant and opulent rooms with stunning panoramic views and an inspiring World class collection of art all around you. With a magnificent stone entrance hall and sweeping staircase to lead you and your guests to the spectacular picture galleries, atmospheric music room and exquisite Jubilee Room for your wedding.

The Bowes Museum is a stunning grade 1 listed French chateau style building which is built of local stone and opened to the public in 1892. It is a hidden treasure, a jewel in the heart of Teesdale, that is truly unique and breath-taking.
