What could be better than getting married in the building that was created by love? The Bowes Museum is a breathtakingly stunning grade 1 listed French chateau style building, founded by John and Josephine Bowes who adored each other and who were passionate about collecting art and they wanted to share that with the people of the area they loved in the picturesque Teesdale market town of Barnard Castle.
You can tie the knot in the magnificent Nineteenth Century Picture Gallery surrounded by an unrivalled collection of paintings from around the world, the atmospheric Music Room with a collection of musical instruments and paintings around the edge of the room or the opulent Jubilee Room with stunning panoramic views over Teesdale.
Celebrate your nuptials with a wedding breakfast or reception in the picture gallery or newly refurbished café Bowes with evening dancing in the stunning stone entrance hall.
The gardens offer the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos with grade 2 listed parkland comprising formal gardens, woodland walks and nature trails.
The Museum’s friendly and knowledgeable wedding coordinators understand it’s an honour and a pleasure to host someone’s special day and as such the Museum only holds one wedding a day, so whether it’s traditional or quirky, formal or informal, nothing is too much trouble and we’ll do our very best to look after the family from the first enquiry through to waving you them off at the end of the night.
