November/December 2022

November/December 2022

Is it me, or does it only seem like yesterday that we were ringing in 2022? Suddenly the nights have well and truly drawn in and the heating is very much switched on – and with it there goes a huge portion of your wedding budget.

Energy bill jokes aside, I, for one, love this time of year. OK, so you can no longer enjoy a beer garden afternoon with your mates, but instead you get to snuggle together with your intended on the sofa, glass of red in hand, talking of your hopes and dreams for the future. And, if you’re reading this, that means your current hopes and dreams are all things wedding – so let’s get cracking with planning the best day of your lives!

Starting on page 15, we’ve six pages of gorgeous North East wedding venues for you to discover, from County Durham’s finest, to hotels where you can say your vows before bedding down for the night. Next, head over to page 45 for all your wedding transport needs, before flicking to our regional spread on wedding fashion suppliers you’ve simply got to approach for your big day (p57).

Finally, speaking of big days, I can’t sign off until I’ve mentioned my cousin Jade’s wedding to his wife Simone, which you can read about in all its glory over on page 32. See if you can spot me laughing with my husband and the groom with my multitude of tiny chins – I should have kept my guard well and truly up knowing the photographers were on the prowl!

Happy wedding planning – see you in 2023…

Beamish Hall

Beamish Hall is a breath taking example of 13th century architecture, beautifully secluded within the rolling hills of the Derwent Valley. With stunning photo opportunities at every turn, the grand country house setting and extensive manicured grounds provide the perfect backdrop for pictures you’ll share and cherish forever.

From the light and airy style of the Monboucher space, to the original, classy oak panelling in the Shafto Hall, there’s a style to suit everyone’s taste. With endless décor and lighting possibilities, Beamish Hall boasts the perfect balance between traditional and modern elegance.

As a fully licensed venue, ceremonies can take place in any of the venue’s seven function rooms and outside spaces. Shafto Hall is a magnificent suite seating up to 200, complemented by oak panelling, stained glass windows and a minstrels’ gallery. The Monboucher, alternatively, is light and airy, with stunning bay windows that overlook the acres of parkland and acting as a dreamy backdrop for your perfect day. The Monboucher seats up to 150; the spectacular Winter Gardens suite has a marquee-style roof and can seat up to 280; the Common Room is ideal for smaller ceremonies of up to 60; while the Drawing Room is perfect for a wedding seating 30. Then there are the 24 acres of beautiful parkland, with the Winter Gardens terrace the perfect backdrop for your dream outdoor wedding.
