July/August 2021

Hello lovely readers and welcome to another issue of Your North East Wedding. I hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather; the time has flown so far this year and I can’t believe it’s already August! I’m a huge fan of the summer as the birds are singing in the morning, you can soak up more vitamin D and the evenings are perfect for sitting outside with a glass of gin – something I love to do!

Planning a wedding can seem like a daunting task, but don’t panic as we’ve gathered local experts from around the region to share inspiration and offer seller advice to make this process much more manageable.

When it comes to creating your dream day, remember that communication is vital. Take this opportunity to work together as a team and create a day that represents you both. Stay true to yourselves and don’t be swayed too much by other peoples opinions; it’s your day after all!

One of the highlights of my job is getting to view so many different wedding styles and witnessing couples celebrating their day surrounded by loved ones. Make sure to turn to our real wedding features where you’ll get the chance to view local love stories and discover plenty of inspiration.

The Palm

Break free from the city with The Palm, a palm tree-filled tropical hotspot that’s perfect for weddings. The venue’s beautiful mix ‘n’ match choice of ceremony and reception spaces encompasses: five ceremony areas, four funky wedding breakfast set-ups and three evening reception spaces – the opportunities are endless. The brightly lit premises will wow guests with its dramatic palm tree-lined paths, huge torch flames and large archways.

Ceremonies take place in multiple spaces; The Pineapple Cove is a shipwrecked tropical beach for 60 loved ones, while The Tropicuba is full of carnival décor inspired by the coloured streets of Havana for 110 nearest and dearest. Another option is The Garden with palm trees and firepits, which provide the ideal backdrop for a ceremony under the sky. Couples can then continue the celebrations with the venue’s very own street food shacks in tropical surroundings with 70 people.

Alternatively, why not opt for the Liberty Brown with 100 guests? The area features floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open straight onto the botanical terrace with views of The Northern Spire Bridge.

The Wildernest Treehouse can host 60 people for the wedding breakfast and is a storybook retreat that’s unlike any other – the only thing to expect is the unexpected. Other reception spaces include the Pineapple Cove (40), Tropicuba (80) and Liberty Brown (100). For the evening reception, loved ones can dance the night away in the Tropicuba for up to 200 guests.

Lisa Armstrong, award-winning make-up artist and brand ambassador for new Beauty Hygiene Plus shares her top three make-up hacks...1."There are so many tips and tricks of the trade, however I think that when doing a make-up look, such as my smoky eye, I would advise that you always start with the eyes. When I do it at work, or on a new client, sometimes they think I'm mad because I haven't started with their face. By doing the eye make-up first, any fallout or mascara spillages that may happen are easy to clean up before you put your primer on and start with the face make-up. It allows you to make a beautiful base with no marks or smears, allowing you the most flawless finish!"
