The UK's leading sustainable bridal brand Sanyukta Shrestha has been announced as the winner of the PETA Vegan Wedding Award 2021. Other winners included British singer and activist Leona Lewis and vegan shoe brand Beyond Skin.

As the largest animal rights organisation in the world, PETA entities have more than 9million members and supporters globally. PETA's International sites are dedicated in the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, Switzerland, India, Australia, Asia and Latino. The first Vegan Wedding Award was organised by PETA, UK. Director Elisa Allen, tells us, "PETA's Vegan Wedding Awards recognise the industry players that are making it easier than ever to say "I do" to an eco- and animal-friendly celebration. Because true luxury is kind, high-end designer Sanyukta Shrestha received the accolade for her collection of gorgeous wedding gowns made from high-quality vegan fabrics, including bamboo, hemp "silk", and organic cotton, allowing brides to walk down the aisle in style while being kind to the planet and the animals we share it with."

Sanyukta Shrestha was among the first to introduce sustainability to the bridal industry with the launch of her first international sustainable bridal collection in 2011 made from eco-friendly, cruelty free vegan fibres from hand-spun and hand loomed bamboo, banana, hemp, organic cotton to wild nettle. Sanyukta Shrestha is also the first British Nepalese bridal fashion designer to have one of her sustainable couture creations preserved in the prestigious Fashion Museum in Bath since 2013 which is also made from 100% sustainable vegan fibres.

The designer tells us,  "Winning the PETA Vegan Wedding Award 2021'= in the UK was an emotional moment that left the team in tears, indeed happy tears. On the 10th anniversary of our brand's sustainable journey, being awarded by such an inspirational and prestigious organisation in the world such as PETA is a remarkable milestone for our brand's value and vision."
