Luxury County Durham hotel showcases quirky wedding ideas for 2020
A luxury 17th century country house and spa has reacted to important changes in the weddings market by highlighting new ways for newlyweds to celebrate their special day in 2020 or 2021.
Nestled in the heart of the Durham Dales, but just 15 minutes from Darlington, the 4-star Headlam Hall is one of the area's best established wedding venues.
Angela Evans, who heads the weddings team at the hotel, claims that, in addition to offering magical weddings amidst the picturesque rural backdrop of Teesdale, the hotel also prides itself on being really different to other wedding venues in the North East.
Headlam Hall already has weddings booked through to late 2021, and, having researched changes in the weddings market over the last two years, couples considering Headlam for their wedding are now being encouraged by Evans and her team to try something a little different on their big day by really making the most of the hotel's beautiful countryside setting.
For instance, newlyweds can snap those lifetime photos in vintage cars, motorcycles, bicycles and even tractors against the backdrop of the stunning gardens, outbuildings, barns and stables at the charming rural retreat.
Headlam Hall's four acres of walled gardens includes an immaculate main lawn, ornamental canal, rose garden and kitchen garden.
Thomas Robinson, Headlam's owner, said: "Getting married is obviously a really special occasion and so, the location and images from the day should be especially memorable. We want to offer some alternatives to generic wedding photography and so came up with a few ideas with the help of several wedding experts to enable the couple to truly capture the moment in a special and quirky way."
Headlam Hall has a wedding licence and can cater for up to 120 guests, with weddings being held either outside on the terrace overlooking the sprawling gardens, or indoors in the Stable Lounge with its stone walls and oak beamed ceilings. In addition, ceremonies can also take place in the Coach House ballroom.
Robinson added; "These days, couples are spoilt for choice when it comes to the type of wedding they are looking for. They're also looking for a bespoke and personalised experience more than ever before, and by launching our range of country wedding experiences and photo-opportunities, we believe we're tapping into a trend which is here to stay."
