According to a recent survey from TruBe, the leading personal fitness mobile application, the North East tops when it comes to telling porkies… when faced with the prospect of their partner's massage skills, that is.
Almost one in 10 of us (7%) throughout the UK have admitted we don't like our partner's massages and twice that number (14%), actually prefer the massage skills of our former partner – according to the study.
While many of us may lay there in physical pain at the poor massage execution of our partner, many of us want to spare that same partner the emotional pain of being told how unpleasant their massage may be.
Nearly a quarter of us (23%) admit that we tell our partners they are good at massages when in truth we do not like it.
Regionally, it appears those of us in the North East bite our tongue the most, with a significant 37% admitting to telling the white lie - a stark contrast to those in the South West where just 13% do.
The research has also revealed that remarkably, more than two million of us (5%) in the UK have been so disappointed in our partner's massage skills, that we have ended the relationship as a result! Throughout the UK, a whopping four million men admitted to breaking up with their partner because of bad massage skills, compared to just one million women.
Daria Kantor, founder and CEO of TruBe commented on the study: “Our study revealed just how popular massages are in this country. Nearly one in 10 of us in the UK is receiving one daily, but with a clear dissatisfaction towards the quality we are getting – particularly at home – we wanted to launch an easy to use massage service that will give people what they need. This is an exciting new service to add to our already growing offer of personal training and fitness instructors and can't wait for users to begin relaxing post workout!”
