Tips on keeping your wedding dress safe pre- and post-wedding
While everyone has their own budget for the big day, nobody can deny weddings are an...
We asked Nicola Spacey, Gisborough Hall's Sales and Marketing Manager, for her essential advice…
1. Decide on the style of wedding you want
Are you looking for a country house that's formal and elegant, with beautiful grounds, a grand ballroom with sophistication or perhaps a contemporary glass building? Do you want to marry inside or out? Do you want an in-house team to help and guide you throughout, or are you looking for a venue that lets you bring your own suppliers in?
2. Decide on the type of ceremony you would like
Deciding where you would like to say 'I do' early in the planning stages of the wedding may help you choose which venue to host your wedding reception. Are you wanting a church wedding, Registry Office service or civil ceremony? Is the church close to the venue so guests can travel between them easily? Is the venue licenced for a civil ceremony?
3. Consider your guests
Are many of your guests travelling to share your special day with you – and, in which case, will they need accommodation? Would the bridal party like to stay at the venue the night prior to the wedding to start the celebrations and get to know each other before the big day? Choosing a venue with bedrooms means one less thing for you and your guests to worry about.
4. Don't miss out on wedding events
Visiting wedding showcases at a venue you're considering is an excellent way of viewing the space dressed for a wedding breakfast and getting a feel for the place. You'll have the chance to get to know the wedding team, and you'll also meet some of their recommended suppliers.
Wedding fairs are also a great way to get lots of ideas and inspiration, plus you'll get to meet a range of wedding suppliers all in one place. The next wedding fair at Gisborough Hall is on Sunday 27th January 2019.
5. Don't think you need years to plan your wedding
If you simply can't wait to get married and would like a whirlwind wedding, why wait? By creating a timeline, you can plan your dream wedding in a few months! Get in touch with venues to find out their availability and choose a package that includes lots of essentials to save time. Wedding packages range from venue to venue but when time is scarce, choosing one that has lots included will mean you have to spend less time on planning!
6. Ask for help
At each step of the planning stage don't be afraid to ask for help. From the wedding co-ordinator at your chosen venue to your bridesmaids, best man, groomsmen and family – ask them to help. You'll be surprised how happy they are to lend a hand – it's an exciting time for everyone and they'll love getting involved.
The team at Gisborough Hall has lots of experience planning weddings and their wedding co-ordinators can offer lots more tips. To find out more call 01287 611 500 or e-mail weddings@gisborough-hall.com
