Spending the New Year dreaming of a luxury honeymoon after your wedding – but don't know where to book or why? Morpeth-based travel agent Eve Moir has all the answers…

How did you get in to the wedding industry?

"I trained and qualified as a travel agent after leaving school at the age of 17, and in those days it was a travel 'agent' as opposed to someone who just 'books holidays' – we really had to know our stuff and be the experts. This included planning and organising every aspect of a client's wedding abroad or dream honeymoon right down to the last detail. And to this day, that's exactly what I do!"

What do you love the most about your job?
"I have never loved my job more than I do now. Working for myself and having the freedom to put together exactly what my customers really want and be truly personal gives me the most job satisfaction I've ever had. I don't have a big boss looking over my shoulder telling me what I need to sell to hit that month's target, I only have my client to please – and making them happy makes me happy!"

What do you love the most about living in the North East?
"I have lived in the North East all my life! I could not imagine living anywhere else, there's no place like it. The people, our heritage and history, our amazing coastline and castles. I live walking distance from the beach and there's nothing I love more than to take a break down there with my pup and walk along the miles of uninterrupted golden sand. It gives me all the mental vitamins I need!"

Why pick you for finding your dream honeymoon?
"I provide a very unique travel service using amazing award-winning technology. I am not a faceless website where booking a holiday is just a transaction, I am a human at the other end of the phone who will care about your trip, and you, more than anyone else ever will. I am able to tailor-make an itinerary from the smallest detail, all with the support of a world leading, independent travel company. I pride myself on giving a very personal and exceptional level of service, from the very first time we speak until you return from your trip. Every holiday I book is 100% financially protected through our unique and very special Travel Counsellors Trust. As my office is in my home, I am able to speak to my customers at a time that suits them best, even if it outside of 'normal' working hours. This also includes 24 hour a day emergency contact, so you always have true peace of mind that you're supported, never alone and are truly cared for. In short, I am different, and proud of it!"

Where in the world would you suggest a couple go to experience a perfect honeymoon?
"I think this is very much down to the couple in question and their wants and needs, their likes and dislikes and all of the boxes they’d like ticked  I’d get to know the couple personally and really find out about what experience they’re looking for, whether it’s total relaxation, adventure or culture, and set to work on putting together their dream trip and tailor-make it to be absolutely perfect for them. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ – that’s the beauty of travel – and how I work with my clients being at the very centre of every single thing I do. I am always right here for them as their travel expert, making organising their honeymoon as stress-free and as exciting an experience as possible."

If a couple wanted to honeymoon in the North East where would you choose?
"I would choose a cottage, lodge or B&B in the wonderful village of Alnmouth with its beautiful beach and estuary. You could explore Alnwick, the castle and gardens from here, take a drive up the coast from Alnmouth to Craster and sample Robson's world famous smoked kippers. Take a walk from Craster to the castle at Dunstanburgh that leads you on to the gorgeous Embleton Bay. From here you can head on up to Bamburgh, the ancient capital of Northumbria, maybe take a boat trip to the Farne Islands, home to one of the biggest grey seal colonies in the British Isles. Another absolute must while you are here is to visit Holy Island (Lindisfarne), crossing the amazing tidal causeway to reach the island - I'd even recommend booking in at a hotel for the night and being completely cut off from the mainland – so romantic! The North East has so much to offer you, and I also wholeheartedly recommend www.lundgrentours.com for anyone looking for a bespoke experience whilst here. They are absolute experts in their field!"
