Want your wedding to stand out with some cool features to get your guests talking? A mobile bar hire is a fun way for your wedding party to enjoy a variety of drinks, so with this in mind we caught up with Nicola Robinson from Durham's Nickynoo Quirky Mobile Bars…
How did you get in to the wedding industry?
"I originally started providing vintage props and decoration hire. I then got our vintage mobile bicycle bar Gin Wizz, before moving on to provide vintage style fully-stocked bars, which are all handmade by our in house joiner Colin. I wanted a bar which looked like it came from a traditional English pub. We started with Albert, our dark wood vintage bar which is available in two sizes, before adding our shabby chic bar Clementine, who is made completely from reclaimed timber and compeiments marquee weddings perfectly. Because the demand for Albert was so high we added Victoria, another larger dark wood vintage-style bar. We've also got another completely unique gin bar in the planning stages - so watch this space!"
What do you love the most about your job?
"I love the variation. We get to go to lots of different venues, meet lots of different people and provide the bars for a wide range of events. The majority of the bars we provide are for weddings but in December alone we have had events with a children's choir, a cabaret show and a big corporate Christmas party, which was lots of fun!"
What do you love the most about living in the North East?
"I love how we have everything on our doorstep, from beautiful countryside to the coast and then big cities where there's always something going on. I also love how friendly the people are."
Why pick you for a wedding bar?
"We offer a bespoke service. I personally deal with all of our bookings and we go the extra mile to give the customer what they want. We also have a lot of fun providing the bars which comes across in our work, as people often comment on how friendly our staff are."
What are the trends for wedding drinks for 2019?
"Gin is still the in thing! We offer over 14 types of gin and always stock a gin which is local to the area. We are also seeing an increase in people asking for craft beer as part of their welcome drinks package, which I think will continue into 2019. We work with lots of local breweries and often source craft beer from further afield, and we always have local craft beer on draught behind the bar."
