Looking for a unique wedding venue to marry in? Charlton Hall may be the one for you! Here's the lowdown on everything you need to know…
Charlton Hall is a private Grade II* listed, 18th century hall located within a private 150-acre country estate along the Northumberland coast.
Looking out towards the coast, the venue enjoys uninterrupted views of its private estate. Accessed via a private, tree-lined driveway directly off the A1, Charlton Hall offers complete exclusivity to guests and is strictly by appointment only.
Inspired by the Alice in Wonderland adage of being entirely bonkers, at Charlton Hall they've challenged the norm with its interior design! Set over three floors, Charlton Hall is made up of a library, drawing room, breakfast room, two bars, speakeasy underground vaults and 'The Looking Glass' – a brand new adjoining glass structure, which frames uninterrupted views of the country estate that looks out towards the coast.
For your overnight stay, there are six distinctive bedroom suites within the hall, as well as the detached stable cottage within the grounds to accommodate up to 16 overnight guests. Each bedroom has been designed to reflect the personality of its namesake. These guest rooms feature elegant roll-top baths, vast chandeliers and vibrant décor by leading names in interior design including Mulberry, Pierre Frey, House of Hackney, Manuel Canovas, Emma J Shipley and Diane von Furstenburg to name but a few.
During the development of Charlton Hall, the venue has also lovingly restored and preserved many original features and artefacts that keep the heritage of the hall alive. Imposing doorways, baroque fireplaces, original wood flooring, coving and antiques that were included within the sale feature heavily throughout and add plenty of charm to the décor at Charlton Hall.
Artefacts that feature in the hall today include auction notices from 1878, newspaper articles from 1935 and turn of the century memoirs such as a school sports trophy dating back to 1890.
Throughout the hall, you will find historic pieces emphasised by opulent lighting, bold materials that offset traditional wooded flooring and juxtapose old with new and audacious wallpaper to clash with mismatching fabrics.
