Discover why The Bowes Museum is the perfect wedding venue

The Bowes Museum is a hidden treasure in the heart of Teesdale. The Grade I listed French chateau-style building was built from local stone, which opened to the public back in 1892 and now holds all sorts of weddings in any season from traditional to quirky, formal and informal.

Set in acres of parkland with Grade II listed gardens, the museum offers plenty of stunning photo opportunities especially from the terrace which leads to a formal parterre garden below. These's even a selection of beautiful, elegant and opulent rooms with stunning panoramic views and an inspiring world-class collection of art.

A stone entrance hall and sweeping staircase leads guests to the ceremony spaces. The Atmospheric Music Room can hold a maximum capacity of 64 guests with a collection of musical instruments and paintings while the Jubilee Room can fit 100 people with panoramic views. Or why not opt for the magnificent 19th-century Picture Gallery for 200 partygoers? Receptions at this venue take place in the Entrance Hall and Café Bowes with a maximum of 120 guests.

The company's wedding coordinators understand that it's an honour and a pleasure to host someone's wedding, which is why there's only one wedding per day. When couples book this venue for the special day, they'll receive a complimentary admission for brides and grooms from the date of booking all the way until their first wedding anniversary.
