Seaham hall celebrates Ada Lovelace Day 2019 with 15% saving on exclusive luxury break

Today, Tuesday 8 October, is Ada Lovelace Day, an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

Five-star Seaham Hall, a boutique hotel and wedding venue set in a glorious cliff-top position overlooking Durham's Heritage Coast, is offering an exclusive package, which can only be booked on 8 October (for stays until 19 December), in celebration of their Ada Lovelace link.

Ada Lovelace was known in her time as a revolutionary and influential mathematician and writer, and she is widely credited with being the world's first computer programmer, at a time when computers weren't even in existence. She was called the Enchantress of Numbers by her fellow scientific collaborators - an amazing accolade and feat at a time when women were expected simply to stay at home and to bring up their children.

Ada's parents, Lord and Lady Byron, married at Seaham Hall in 1815. The five-star hotel's striking, super-luxe Ada Lovelace Suite celebrates her links with Seaham Hall with artwork referencing her achievements and showcasing her famous portrait.

The grand split-level suite features a pair of slipper baths facing stunning Georgian windows overlooking the Seaham Estate and the sea beyond. There is a chic glazed bathroom and mirrored boudoir, and an elevated sleeping mezzanine overlooking a generous sitting room.

The Ada Lovelace Day offer MUST BE BOOKED ON 8 OCTOBER and is AVAILABLE ONLY FOR STAYS BETWEEN 8 OCTOBER AND 19 DECEMBER.

The package includes overnight accommodation in the Ada Lovelace Suite, a three-course dinner in The Dining Room, a full breakfast, and use of the spa facilities from 12 noon on the day of arrival until 12 noon on the day of departure.

The one-night break costs £204 pp (two sharing) a 15% saving on the best available rate - and is available Mondays to Thursdays in the Ada Lovelace Suite only.
