Doxford Hall, classical country house hotel and Northumbria's only four red star venue, has appointed a new Wedding and Events Manager, Jon Allan.
In joining the team, Jon revisits his Northumbrian roots, following a 20-year chapter progressing his hospitality and travel career with the Hilton Hotel group, which he joined as a management trainee in 1997.
He went on to work at The Metropole in Brighton in 2011, where he was employed as Deputy Conference and Events Sales Manager, managing a team of ten, and servicing up to 3,000 guests at any one time.
His role at Doxford Hall will be enhanced by his wealth of experience and first-class training in the world of hospitality. Jon will be responsible for driving sales and overseeing weddings, private parties, dinners and corporate events.
He has a varied collection of suites to work with, including the hotel's beautiful Ballroom ('Kennedy suite') which accommodates up to 200 for an evening reception or ceremony; 'The George Runciman', 'The Library', 'The Northumberland Room' and 'The Flower Room', as well as the oak-panelled dining suite, 'The Frank Henry Mason'.
Prior to returning to Northumbria, Jon took a career break and travelled the world for just over a year. This was pivotal time in changing his direction and he was drawn to return home after many years working away.He commented about his recent appointment, saying "I am passionate about what I do, and to be able to return to home turf, bringing all of the skills I have acquired over many years of development with a global brand makes complete sense to do now. I feel as though I am ready now to settle back into the area, and plough in my experience into helping a local organisation to succeed, keeping the business moving forwards and delivering a first-rate experience for my customers.
"Doxford has a special place in my heart too, as my Great Aunt used to be a cook for the house. I am sure she would have been really proud to hear that I am now part of the team here."
Adam Reeves, Chief Executive of The Robert Parker Collection (which owns and manages five top-class hotels, including Doxford Hall, and nearby Eshott Hall) added: "Jon is a really charismatic guy, and full of energy, he loves people and likes to find a way in which his customer can be delighted, by going that extra mile for them. Where possible, Jon doesn't say 'No' to our customers, it's more likely to be'I am sure we can find a way for you!' We are very pleased to welcome him on board"
