The best-laid plans

Holly and Peter's day at Le Petit Chateau was a stylish black tie affair.

Holly Ryder, 27, married Peter Jackson, 31, at Le Petit Chateau on 2nd July, 2017.

I work for Le Petit Chateau and knew I always wanted to get married there. However, I let Peter have the final say, so when he saw it and said it was perfect we didn't look anywhere else!

I was really picky and tried around 40 dresses before I found the one! I had my heart set on a big Cinderella gown, but after exhausting this style I tried on a trumpet style and loved it!

My bouquet was amazing and it smelt divine! I've always known how I wanted it to look – a mix of white peonies and my favourite white O'hara roses, with additional flowers to bulk it out.

My bridesmaids were a range of ages, so we decided on long pale grey evening gowns for the older girls and shorter, more playful versions for my 12-year-old nieces.

I hired some lighting to dot around the venue and the company surprised us with a love heart-shaped light – it featured a personal message covered in white and pink artificial roses and looked incredible.

I've worked alongside hair stylist Lisa for a few years, so I always knew I'd use her for my wedding. My make-up artist was recommended by friends – and I loved the copper smoky effect she used on my eyes.

We really enjoyed our entertainment – our caricaturist and magician got people chatting and interacting on the day.

Our photographer Lee was the first supplier we booked. Peter loved the black and white images he captures and thought it would look perfect with our black tie theme.

We had a harpist during the ceremony and drinks reception, then switched to a DJ for the evening, as we wanted a mixture that everyone could enjoy.

Peter and the groomsmen were in black tie, which looked stunning. It was tricky to get the fit right due to different sizes in the party, but we managed it in the end!

My mum made our cake – look how clever she is! Made up of fruit, chocolate and coconut and lime, it was a five-tier creation decorated in rose gold foil.

HOLLY'S TOP TIP!
“Only you will know if the favours didn't turn up on time or if the speeches took longer than expected – chances are your guests are having too much fun to notice!”
