I’m currently sat on a train travelling through Switzerland on the way to St Moritz – and let me tell you, it’s almost impossible to focus on writing this letter. The three-and-a-half-hour journey from Zurich is showcasing some of the most impressive scenery I’ve ever seen – picture snow-capped mountains, never-ending forests and glacierblue lakes and rivers. It’s a hard life, journeying to some of the world’s most beautiful destinations to review the honeymoon hotspots you’ve just got to try. A former shipping warehouse now recognised as a building of cultural interest in Wearside, Bonded Warehouse recently underwent extensive restorations in order to preserve its history. Nestled in the heart of Sunderland’s Fish Quay, this Grade II listed, circa-1830s property has a rich history, echoed by its original features, which have been embellished and restored authentically and aesthetically. Inside, expect to see moody, rich and elegant décor, which complements the venue’s distinctly urban feel. Outside, there’s a secluded courtyard – a delightful south-facing sun-trap with ample space for drinks.
Exchange vows and then host your wedding reception for up to 150 under the decadent beams, taking in the exposed brickwork and carefully restored original features. The venue’s ground floor hosts the Tap House, a beautifully styled bar for you to utilise. Upstairs, the Warehouse offers the perfect setup and acoustics for live entertainment, with a state-of-the-art sound equipment and mood lighting at your disposal.
