Choosing a wedding dress for many brides-to-be can be a stressful affair, from spending hours researching the latest styles, to booking appointments at dozens of bridal boutiques in the quest to find your fairy-tale gown.
If you’re adamant you want goosebumps and tears when you finally find ‘the one’, then feel free to go for it – have fun and happy shopping! But what if you don’t get butterflies in your stomach when slipping them on? Just take our bride Faith over on page 38. She began wedding dress shopping knowing she wasn’t going to cry or settle on a dress 100%, instead finding a gown she felt confident walking up the aisle in. So, if you like the look of a dress on you, but your mam hasn’t burst into happy tears, stay strong! You’re the one who’s going to be wearing it!
Also this issue, we’re jam-packed with pages of styling wedding inspiration to really help with those big-day decisions. There’s venues that look sensational in the snow (p21), a stunning shoot at Northumberland’s Eshott Hall (p27), and wedding catering to make your guests’ mouths water on page 53. All that plus the chance to win a night’s stay at Gisborough Hall (p13) – and a honeymoon to Tuscany, worth £1,300 on page 96!
Enjoy planning the best day of your lives … | |

Acklam Hall
Whether it’s a grand affair for all of your family and friends, or a more intimate gathering of your closest loved ones, Acklam Hall is a Tees Valley venue to consider. Middlesbrough’s only Grade I listed building, it boasts over 300 years of character and charm. Enhanced by the manicured grounds, which provide many fabulous locations for your wedding photographs, you can even take a stroll down the avenue of trees that lead to the building itself.
The Parlour offers an intimate setting for a wedding ceremony for up to 40 guests, with views of the outside space. The Drawing Room is ideal for a larger ceremony, accommodating up to 120 of your family and friends. Once you’ve tied the knot you can then enjoy a fabulous drinks reception in the hall and gardens, before hosting your wedding breakfast in either The Parlour or The Drawing Room. Finally, as the wedding comes to an end, choose to make your day even more special, with an overnight stay in the exquisite Queen’s Room Bridal Suite.
