July/August 2020

What a surreal time we’re all facing right now – if someone would have told us at the start of the year that we would be in this predicament, I wouldn’t have believed them. Though I hate to mention the dreaded C-word, it’s important to highlight how incredible the wedding industry has been throughout this all. The positivity I’ve seen from you all and suppliers even in the hardest times has been amazing and I couldn’t be prouder of us all.

The tide is turning with hope for the future and for those planning your wedding, the show must go on. This issue is packed full of beautiful big-day inspiration, top expert advice and talented suppliers who could be perfect for your special day.

Make sure to check out our photography feature where you’ll find picture perfect shots, and find inspiration on how to transform any space with our venue styling feature.

We’ve also scoured the area for some of the best venues throughout the North East, so if you’re at the beginning of your wedding journey make sure to check it out.

That’s all from me, now sit back, relax

Northside Farm

Northside Farm is an exclusive-use venue nestled in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside comprising a converted barn, a gin gang ceremony room surrounded by 70 acres of land, lakes and woodland. The luxurious glamping site consists of 10 timber pods each with a firepit, four whimsical fairytale-style cottages, fully functioning luxury amenities and space for an additional tent or wigwam pitches.

The barn has a fully licensed wooden bar area adjoining to the floor-to-ceiling glass-fronted main reception and ceremony room with flagstone flooring, exposed beams and brick walls. The venue is fully heated offering quirky décor or can be left as a blank canvas to add your personal touch.

Outside, guests can find manicured lawns used for the drinks’ reception or garden games in the summer, and a part-covered comfortable courtyard at the rear with a firepit for toasting marshmallows or having a barbecue buffet. Surrounded by countryside, there’s room for marquees if requested, additional camping accommodation and Northside Farm offers a ‘no restriction’ policy (as long as it is legal) for activities such as fireworks.

Ceremonies can take place outside on the lawn, inside the barn or in the circular gin gang.

The reception takes place in the barn with a capacity for 150 seated guests and opens up for more of an evening reception. It has a fully licensed bar to the side and an outside partcovered courtyard with a comfortable seating area.

The timber glamping pods (sleeps up to five) have an orchard from which guests can sample the fruits when in bloom, along with private firepits. The addition of the four cottages (each sleep two) offers that little bit of extra magic to a perfect day. The children’s park includes a zip wire, and the grounds are animal and wheelchair friendly.
