January/February 2022

Hello lovely readers and welcome to another issue of Your North East Wedding. I hope you’ve started 2022 off with a bang and have already been achieving any new year’s resolutions. For me personally, this year is all about making quality time for loved ones and trying not to rush around all the time. It’s all about finding the right balance between work, friends, family and time for myself.

This year will be one of the most exciting wedding season so far with many couples tying the knot, including my close friend who has given me the honour of being a bridesmaid at her wedding - how exciting! The countdown is certainly on, and July couldn’t come around quicker. Christmas and the New Year always create the perfect moments for proposals. If you’ve just received an engagement ring, then you’ve come to the right place as we cover everything from fashion and beauty advice, wedding cakes, venues and more.

Make sure to start the planning process early to book all of your favourite suppliers in time, especially because of how busy 2022 will be for weddings - there’s nothing worse than finding out your dream companies are fully booked.

If you’re towards the end of your planning journey, we have the perfect features to help you add the finishing touches for that wow-factor wedding and help solve any last minute worries or problems.

Happy planning!

St Mary's Heritage Centre

Situated in Gateshead, a beautiful town famous for its architect and iconic bridges, St Mary’s Heritage Centre is a former Medieval church that has been lovingly restored to its original beauty. Conveniently located on Gateshead Quayside, with the majestic Tyne Bridge forming a breathtaking backdrop, the property is an ideal location to capture beautiful outdoor photographs.

The approach to the building is impressive, with an illuminated clock face on the bell tower and Norman-stoned mullioned windows. The building has retained its Medieval exterior with some contemporary additions including a modern extension.

Inside the venue, the Main Hall is the perfect backdrop to receptions with pillars, arches and tall-gothic windows, which provide ample lighting. The space hosts up to 110 guests for banquet-style celebrations or 140 for more informal layouts or evening receptions.

Another ideal location is The Chancel, a Grade I listed building that’s best suited for a bar area for intimate receptions with 50 loved ones. The location needs very little decoration, but the staff will advise couples on ways to add special touches to personalise the space. Not only that, but the team can suggest other local companies to help create dream weddings.

The flower language of roses: the hidden meaning behind each shade

The flower language of roses: the hidden meaning behind each shade

Roses are still one of the most prominent wedding flowers chosen couples to feature in their big-day styling. But how do you know which colour rose to get? Luckily for you, each colour has a specific meaning, and depending on the occasion, one will be better suited than the other.

During the Victorian era, flower language, also known as floriography, gained prominence. Flowers, especially roses, were used to convey a secret message without having to speak. This tradition has carried through today, and roses are much appreciated as a stand-alone gift, as well as a sentimental complement to a main present.

The gemstone jeweller Angelic Diamonds has ranked the most popular colour roses in the UK based on Google search volumes and reveals the hidden messages behind each to help you find the perfect one.
