Honeymoon at Bawah Reserve, Indonesia

Honeymoon at Bawah Reserve, Indonesia: Image 1

Made up of six stunning islands, Bawah Reserve is a picture-perfect paradise in Indonesia.

Now entering its first full season, Bawah Reserve offers couples the opportunity to explore an untapped paradise of six islands, 13 beaches and three lagoons, situated in a remote area of natural beauty in far-flung Indonesia.

A newly accessible destination for travellers, Bawah Reserve is a remarkable natural retreat, home to 300 hectares of lush forest, sheltered lagoons and powder-white beaches, offering guests a chance to truly explore the remote Anambas Islands for the first time.

Guests can choose to stay in bamboo-made Garden Suites, tented Beach Suites, Deluxe Beach Suites or Overwater Suites. There are three Garden Suites, set within the lush jungle for total privacy and featuring a stylish copper walk-in shower, freestanding "explorers bathtub" dressing area and a spacious verandah with five-metre day bed, safari table and chairs. Those looking for the ultimate 'glamping' experience can opt for a Beachfront Suite, complete with stunning views of the lagoon. Crafted from bamboo, these safari-style, open-planned, tented beach suites are eco-friendly with a modern, exotic finish with large verandah, with direct access to the white power beach. The Deluxe Beach Suites are ideal for groups of friends and family as they come complete with tented lounge and dining areas, perfect for sharing. True water-lovers can choose to stay in one of Bawah Reserve's 11 intimate, Overwater Suites - a real gem in Indonesia with unbeatable views. Each suite is adorned with stylish recycled wooden interiors and private sundeck overlooking the aqua marine lagoon.

At Bawah Reserve, there's no end of adventures and no hidden costs, as all meals, activities and spa treatments are included. The Anambas Archipelago was one of the first marine conservation areas in Indonesia and unlike many holiday destinations in the region, visitors can swim in the sea as it is calm and crystal clear with spectacular reefs. The waters surrounding Bawah Reserve are perfect for paddle boarding, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing snorkeling and diving and guests can expect to come across hundreds of species including parrotfish, clownfish and turtles. Those who prefer to explore on dry land can spend their time hiking the verdant jungles, birdwatching, stargazing, playing croquet or tennis barefoot on the grass court or relaxing at the open-air cinema by night. The area is also a paradise for nature lovers and is home to 50 species of bird, 150 species of butterfly, sea otters and pangolin. After a day of exploring, guests can rejuvenate at the Aura wellness centre, which features four treatment rooms, including one couples suite, offering an array of therapies and signature treatments. Guests can also unwind with waterfront or beachside yoga, pilates and meditation classes during their stay.

Bawah Reserve is home to four bars and restaurants and dining is a highlight. The sustainable mindset of the Bawah experience is reflected in the locally-grown ingredients used in all three restaurants - the Asian fusion Tree Top Restaurant, The Boat House Bar & Restaurant and The Grouper Beach & Pool Bar. Guests can wake-up to breakfast of tropical fruits, home-made yogurt, freshly bakes breads and eggs and lunch on grilled fish and delicious laksa. By night, guests will indulge with a four or five course menu at Tree Top Restaurant, including the likes of cod fish with Hainan rice and lemon grass sauce, Thai-style beef salad and apple pie with ginger ice cream. There is also a look-out bar serving tropical cocktails, aptly named after the French author and playwright Jules Verne, famous for his writings about extraordinary voyages. A wood-panelled, Library set in the tree tops is packed with natural history tomes, maps and guidebooks - promising to excite keen explorers.
