At the time of writing this, it’s hard to believe the gorgeous weather we’re enjoying! The North East isn’t renowned for being blessed with uninterrupted sunshine, but we’ve certainly been basking in it of late. I’m sure you’re hoping your wedding day will be an equally sunny affair, especially when you look at this issue’s picture-perfect photo shoots, from an exclusive peak at the North Shire wedding venue (p29) to a Jane Austen-style collection, shot on location at Doxford Hall (p51).
I’m also pleased to reveal we’re showcasing not two but three reader weddings for you to enjoy. We particularly love the Hindu and Christian fusion of Ankita and Rob (p38), whose big day saw the groom arrive on horseback – plus two costume changes for husband and wife. We also caught up with the North East’s best wedding photographers (p61) to find out what you should and shouldn’t be doing when capturing your big day, while florists from the area showcase the bouquet and bloom trends you need to know about on page 55. It was a case of east meets west for Ankita and Rob's spectacular Indian affair.
Ankita Karn, 27, married Robert Lawson, 29, at Sunderland Minster, followed by a Hindu ceremony and reception at Beamish Hall, on 17th February, 2018.

Stadium of Light
The Stadium of Light is an impressive and iconic building, with many reminders of the former Wearmouth Colliery on which it was built. Home to Sunderland AFC, the venue has extensive car parking facilities and an on-site hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn, which provides ideal accommodation for guests. With many rooms overlooking the River Wear, this venue provides the perfect setting for all aspects of your wedding.
The whole venue is licensed for ceremonies, however, its three most popular options include the newly refurbished Business Lounge, a modern and contemporary suite that can accommodate up to a staggering 700 guests. The James Herriot Suite features a superior, stylish décor and is perfect for 80 guests – or why not marry in an Executive Box, a unique location for up to 20? Receptions are available in eight different spaces, but our favourite’s got to be the football-themed Quinn’s Sports Bar, boasting an abundance of sporting memorabilia and holding up to 550.
