I love this time of year. The sun is properly starting to break through the clouds, showcasing the stunning countryside and coastline of the fabulous county we call home. The Your North East Wedding team’s also in full swing – meeting up with local suppliers, visiting venues and speaking to newlyweds about the choices they made to ensure their big day was full of nothing but love and laughter.

What I love about the North East is that nothing’s too much trouble, with people coming together to make sure any couple’s nuptials are stunning from start to finish. With this in mind I’ve spoken to a huge amount of local suppliers to get their insider info on all things wedding. Want to know the top cake trends for 2018? Turn to p47 for our master bakers’ advice. After music to knock your guests’ socks off, as well as something to amuse the adults and kids? Our spread on page 55 is fit-to-burst with entertainment, from a double-decker soft play bus and mobile casino to clay pigeon shooting and even a Britain’s Got Talent contender!

We’ve also ensured you’re covered on the venues front, looking at places to wed in the Tees Valley (p19) and by the water (p25). All this plus stunning reader weddings (p31 and p36), beauty inspiration (p78) and a host of fantastic competitions, including an overnight stay at Hexham’s Slaley Hall (p13) – and a honeymoon to Oman, worth £3,000, on page 101!

Le Petit Chateau

This French-style country manor hotel in the heart of Otterburn is a great example of shabby-chic-meets-elegance. With irresistible features like four-poster beds and private roof terrace gardens, it’s bursting to the seams with originality. You can also enjoy your dream waterside wedding thanks to the outdoor terrace, packed with palm trees and looking out at a fabulous fountain.

Besides saying your vows in the outdoor terrace (capacity 94), which also boasts a retractable roof and exterior fireplace, you can also become Mr & Mrs in La Belle Époque (capacity 160), a gorgeous French chapel ceremony room with crystal chandelier, giant fireplace and shingle thatched roof. Receptions are held in the Ballroom (capacity 160), with floor-to-ceiling windows and specifically designed so the bar and dancefloor are together to keep your party going.
